"Loon On The Moon" by Debbie Oppermann. This Common Loon with wings open and beak pointed to the sky while the juvenile waits for food was a resident of the Moon River Ontario Canada, hence the title Loon On The Moon. This family very rarely left the part of the river where we were staying for the week. Loons have long been considered by many North Americans as beautiful and special, symbolizing wilderness and solitude. Many cottage-goers and campers would feel their trip was incomplete without seeing a loon or listening to its haunting call.
